What Is Animal Chiropractic Care?

At Scaly Bark Chiropractic, animal chiropractic care is a natural, drug-free approach focused on supporting your animal’s overall health through proper nervous system function. The central nervous system—made up of the brain and spinal cord—controls and coordinates every function in your animal’s body, from movement and posture to organ function and overall well-being.

When misalignments in the spine, known as subluxations, occur, they can interfere with this communication system. These disruptions may lead to discomfort, reduced mobility, or changes in your animal’s behavior and performance. Through gentle, targeted adjustments, Dr. Clark Stout works to restore proper alignment, helping your animal move, feel, and function at their best.

Signs Your Animal May Benefit from Chiropractic Care

Animals often show subtle signs when something isn’t quite right. Chiropractic care may be beneficial if your animal is experiencing:

  • Decreased flexibility or stiffness

  • Muscle soreness or sensitivity to touch

  • Lameness or changes in gait

  • Behavioral changes or irritability

  • Difficulty performing at their usual level

  • General discomfort or signs of pain

Whether your animal is a performance athlete, working partner, or beloved companion, these symptoms can indicate underlying spinal stress affecting their overall health.

Small Animal Chiropractic

Small animal chiropractic care focuses on improving the health, mobility, and overall well-being of smaller companion animals through gentle, targeted adjustments. This specialized care helps address issues such as joint stiffness, decreased range of motion, discomfort from injury, and age-related changes, all while supporting the body’s natural ability to heal. By restoring proper alignment of the spine and musculoskeletal system, chiropractic care can enhance movement, reduce pain, and improve quality of life for your pet. Animals that fall into the “small animal” category commonly include dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, hedgehogs, and other similarly sized companion animals. Each treatment is carefully tailored to the unique needs, size, and condition of the animal, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and effective experience.

Large Animal Chiropractic

Large animal chiropractic care for equine and bovine patients is designed to support mobility, performance, and overall health through precise, hands-on adjustments of the spine and musculoskeletal system. This specialized care helps relieve stiffness, improve range of motion, and address strain caused by work, production demands, injury, or everyday wear. For equine athletes, chiropractic care can enhance performance, balance, and recovery, while in bovine animals it can support comfort, posture, and productivity. By restoring proper alignment, this approach promotes more efficient movement and overall well-being. Animals that fall into this category include horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, cattle, calves, and other large livestock. Each treatment is carefully tailored to the animal’s size, workload, and specific needs, ensuring safe, effective care that supports long-term health and function.

MagnaWave Therapy

MagnaWave Therapy is popular in both human and animal care, especially for improving mobility, reducing discomfort, and enhancing overall wellness.  This therapy is non-invasive and typically painless, often described as a gentle warming or pulsing sensation.

MagnaWave therapy is a form of pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy that uses low-frequency electromagnetic waves to stimulate the body at a cellular level. The MagnaWave device delivers these pulses through a coil placed over the body, helping to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
